The delay of the flight did not throw cold water on our excitement at visiting this unimaginably beautiful country: Costa Rica.
It was our first time here and the airport was overcrowded with visitors from all over the world. We could hardly find our guide Martin and get to our hotel.
It was a disappointment that we could not book the famous spring resort in La Portuna, but instead, we booked Green Lagoon Wellbeing Resort nearby.
The hotel itself is like an eco-park with greenhouses and birds waking you up, every morning. We could even see a waterfall from our rooms.
We decided to move the most exciting part of the trip, Lake Arenal, to this day, as it was quite sunny.
We arrived at the Arenal Observatory Dock. The Arenal Volcano is an unexpectedly huge volcano with steam coming out from it.
If we come on a rainy day we will not be able to enjoy such an astonishing sight.
We then walked through the forest of clouds to Cerro Chato,
a volcano of a height of over 1000m and with a stunning emerald green cater lake, but that’s the story of the next chapter... |
